"Pututan" or "Pototan" is an Exotic Hardwood that grows in tropical mud flats of a Mangrove Forest. This extremely unique wood root has sections that grow flat, rather than round like most woods! Each one a magnificent "Work of Art." Every piece a true "One of a Kind!"
I discovered this wood in the early 1970's while in Southeast Asia. The unique shape being flat instead of round was mystical . I imported some and began the arduous task of debarking, cleaning, sanding and finishing which took a lengthy period of time. All the pieces are finished by hand sanding and rubbed in oils bringing out the true wood colors and grain patterns. I later imported approximately 55 more pieces in 1980. I did not have time to finish all this wood, so it went into storage for some 40 years. My wife and I are now retired and enjoy working on this beautiful wood. We hope you too will find it enhances your décor!
